A view of the Buddhist Caves





The 34 caves of Ellora are beautiful rock cut temples and monastries hewn out of solid rock of the Charandar hills display the exquisite craftsmanship of ancient India. The these caves represent some of the most beautiful Buddhist, Hindu and Jain architecture in Western India.

The pictures above are of the exterior of some of the Buddhist caves while the title picture above shows scenes from the Ramayana (an ancient Indian epic) in the largest cave no 16 called the Kailash Temple (this is a Hindu cave).

This is an impressive self-contained one-storied structure with a portico at the entrance. some beautiful carvings to be seen here
